Restore, Recharge and Remineralize: The Keys to Provide Lasting Restorations

Glass ionomers have come a long way over the years: it began a few decades ago as a short-term pediatric restoration and now it has a wide array of indications, including luting agents, sealants, bases and final restorations, just to name a few. This course will describe the mechanism of action of glass ionomers and glass-hybrid restoratives and the many ways we can use them in our dental practices. The hands-on portion of this course will provide participants an opportunity to place glass ionomer-based sealants and restorations, including using the open and closed sandwich techniques. Glass ionomers provide many options for a variety of clinical situations and this course will describe them all!

Pamela Maragliano-Muniz, DMD

Pamela Maragliano-Muniz, DMD is the Editor-In-Chief of Inside Dental Hygiene for AEGIS Communications.  She was a dental hygienist before earning her doctor of medicine in dentistry (DMD) degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She also holds a certificate in advanced prosthodontics from the UCLA School of Dentistry. She maintains a private practice in Salem, Massachusetts. In 2010, her practice was named the Adult Preventive Care Practice of the Year by the American Dental Association.
