Cardiovascular disease is still the leading cause of death in the U.S. Diabetes is one of the most common chronic disease oral health professionals are likely to encounter. When a patient has both hypertension and diabetes, which is a common combination, their risk for cardiovascular disease doubles. Oral health screening tests in the dental practice can be the latest weapon in identifying persons at risk. Oral-systemic links can put patients in jeopardy for a dental of ce emergency. Risk assessment for caries infections, periodontal disease, oral cancer and medical emergencies is our best prevention.

There are many materials available to us and it can be difficult to decide when to select specific materials for various clinical situations. This is a hands-on course that combines aesthetic composite restorations and functional restorations using glass ionomer-based restorative materials.

The morning lecture will discuss proper selection of materials to provide long-lasting restorations and describe the many ways to use glass ionomers.

The afternoon workshop will put all the information learned in the morning session into practice.

For dentists that are having difficulty with direct bonding of multiple composite restorations this presentation changes the game. We will review a novel indirect/direct injection technique that adds a new dimension to the restorative process. This inverse injection composite layering technique provides a precise and predictable method for translating a diagnostic was-up or a pre-existing diagnostic model into composite restorations by mixing various hues and opacities of highly filled flowable materials. There are a myriad of applications for this technique using and Adhesive Design Concept. Pre-Requisite—strongly suggested that participants review Chapter 8: Provisionalization of Esthetic & Restorative Dentistry: Material Selection & Technique (third edition) and Restoring with Flowables.

This course will cover the latest pulp therapy techniques in primary teeth and the use of new dental restorative materials in Pediatric Dentistry. Today's restorative dentists need to enhance their cosmetic skills in order to achieve growth and profitability in their practices. This combination lecture and hands-on workshop will demonstrate a simplified method of restoring the fractured maxillary anterior central incisor with composite resin using the intraoral composite mock-up technique. Additionally, as a result of the latest nano-microhybrid injectable composite technology, dentists can now quickly, easily and predictably treat posterior teeth, cervical (abfraction) lesions and incisal wear with beauty, strength and function beyond patient expectations. Improvements in composite polymerization shrinkage, reduction of internal stress and occlusal wear, have made low-wear injectable composite a great aesthetic option. This program will also demonstrate, in a step-by-step fashion, how to place sensitivity-free posterior composites quickly and easily, so that an aesthetic result with a high success rate and predictable outcome can be achieved.
