Dental caries remains a global health problem in children. Dental professionals play a vital role in the management of early childhood caries. Early interception with simple yet effective prevention programs can help. This course will discuss real world strategies to mitigate the burden of early childhood caries by utilizing topical enamel treatments and glass ionomer sealants.

Pedo Pearls – Restorative Dentistry in Pediatric Dentistry

Dental restorative materials improve almost daily. This course will discuss current materials including Glass Ionomers and Glass Hybrids as an alternative to resins. The minimally invasive (MID) Slot Prep technique for Class II lesions in both primary and permanent teeth will also be presented. By the end of this presentation, the participant will be able to successfully perform predictable pediatric dental restorations with less stress for the clinician and the patient.

• Explain the difference between PRR and ITR
• Describe the difference between a Class 2 GV Black prep and a Slot prep
• Compare and contrast the role of composite vs glass ionomers and glass hybrids for restorations

3D imaging for the Pediatric/Orthodontic Practices

Accurate diagnostic imaging of the craniofacial complex is not only an essential factor but also an indispensable step that helps the pediatric dentist and orthodontist to come up with a proper diagnosis and treatment plan. CBCT provides the image accuracy and proper visualization, allowing you to see much more than a panoramic or cephalometric image, thus improving diagnosis and treatment planning.

Speaker Information
Jeanette MacLean, DDS is a Diplomate of the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry, Fellow of the AAPD, owner of Affiliated Children’s Dental Specialists in Glendale, Arizona, and mother of two. She received her dental degree, with honors, from the University of Southern California in 2003 and completed her specialty training in pediatric dentistry in 2005 at Sunrise Children’s Hospital through the University of Nevada School of Medicine. Dr. MacLean has become an internationally recognized advocate and expert on minimally invasive dentistry. Most notably, she was featured in the July 2016 New York Times article “A Cavity Fighting Liquid Helps Kids Avoid Dentists’ Drills,” which brought national attention to the option of treating cavities non-invasively with silver diamine fluoride.

Lance Kisby, DMD is a graduate of Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He has been Board Certified in Pediatric Dentistry since 1983, he is a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatric Dentistry as well as a Master of the Academy of General Dentistry. Dr. Kisby is a Clinical Instructor in Pediatric Dentistry at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. He is currently on staff at Lac du Flambeau, WI with the IHS. Dr. Kisby has over 40 years of clinical and teaching experience thus bringing new and exciting techniques and insights to those dentists and staff who treat children.

Francisco Eraso, DDS, MS, MS, MSD received his DDS from Pontificia Universidad Javeriana, Bogotá, Colombia, his advanced standing dental degree from Indiana University School of Dentistry, his MS in Oral Biology from the University of Louisville, his certificate and MS in Oral and Maxillofacial Radiology from UNC at Chapel Hill and his Orthodontic Certificate and MSD from Indiana University. Currently Dr. Eraso practices Orthodontics in Indianapolis, is one of the founding radiologists of Beamreaders, Diagnostic Services, Inc and is an Adjunct Associate Professor at the Department of Orthodontics at Indiana University.

Grace Yum, DDS is known as a leading pediatric dentist. She worked hard to eventually start two new construction, fee for service, practices, and sold after 11 years. Dr. Yum has an active social media presence, founding Mommy Dentists in Business, a private Facebook group of over 8,000 mommy dentists dedicated to sharing best practices in dentistry while balancing life and work.
